ICC had imposed some fielding restrictions as well in the law approved by the governing body.

As most of the part of the event will play through round-robin format. In this format each team will face all other 9 teams once in this round, the top 4 teams of this initial round will progress to the semi-final which will be a knockout stage.

Many of the former cricketers and cricket experts are criticizing the absence of associates teams. This is the first in the history of CWC 2019 that world cup is going to be held without all test playing nations.

In recent times, ICC has increased the number of test playing nations. With the admission of Ireland and Afghanistan, the numbers are increased from 10 to 12. These top 8 teams of ICC international ODI ranking as of 30 September 2017, had directly gone into the list of participants.

The remaining spots had to be decided after qualifier tournament. This qualifying round helped Afghanistan and the windies to fill the remaining spots as Afghanistan had beaten windies in the final. So Both the teams have successfully managed to get the spots in the event.

2019 ICC World Cup will start on 30th May with a kickoff match between England vs South Africa at Oval Cricket Stadium, England. Total 48 matches will be played between 10 teams in CWC19. The final match will be played in Lords, England on 14th July 2019.

The inaugural edition of the Cricket World Cup was first organized by ICC in 1975. First three editions of the ICC Cricket World Cup were hosted by England. West Indies being a strong cricketing side won the first two editions and was about to claim the 3rd edition of ICC World Cup but India with the virtue of the then, skipper Kapil Dev made an impact and registered their name as the winner of 1983 Cricket World Cup.

Pakistan and India hosted the 1987 Cricket WC in which Australia managed a close contested win in a final match against England and lifted a World Cup 1987 Trophy. Pakistan won the CWC’92 after beating England in the final match of the World Cup whereas Sri Lanka won the Cricket World Cup title in 1996 after beating 1996.

Australia reached into the final of ICC CWC 1999 after beating South Africa in a Sensational last ball finish match. The dominance of Australia over the ICC tournaments lasted for almost a decade. As they won three consecutive Cricket world cups, Australia beat Pakistan in 1999, India in 2003 and Sri Lanka in 2007.

In 2011, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka hosted the World Cup and India lifted the title at his home ground after beating Sri Lanka in the final. 2015 World Cup was hosted by Australia and New Zealand jointly, and eventually, both of these hosts reached into the final of World Cup 2015. Kiwi’s reached into the final of any World Cup edition and were favorites but Australia nailed them and grabbed a victory in 2015 Cricket World Cup.

In short, Australia is the only team who won the ICC Cricket World Cup for the four times, West Indies and India won twice, Pakistan and Sri Lanka lifted World Cup Trophy only once.
